Nestled in the mountains near the Great Wall of China, this weekend retreat was created for a Beijing-based family of four and their friends as a sanctuary of calm and renewal. Guided by the owners’ preference for white and off-white tones, we shaped a strikingly modern interior that comes alive through bold accents in the public areas. A bespoke rug and carefully curated artworks by Beijing artists serve as the only deliberate contrasts within the otherwise pristine, almost ethereal whiteness.
The private rooms offer a more tranquil atmosphere. Here, our design team introduced a dialogue between the pure, almost monastic clarity of white and the warm tactile presence of rustic wood. A subtle touch of green, placed just behind the headboards, completes the sense of intimacy and balance.
