They would overcome the dangers of the open road, the severity of nature and extreme isolation from others. Along these long isolated roads existed a network of inns that took in merchants from all directions and provided them with shelter. The Caravanserai was a meeting point, a place for respite, for trade, a surprise encounter, a mysterious and curious location.
