For the new Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong headquarters, transformed from a former warehouse, anySCALE developed a bespoke signage and graphic system that combines local cultural references with strong brand recognition, making wayfinding an integral part of the spatial narrative.
The signage design draws inspiration from early Hong Kong street signs. Traditional proportions, silhouettes, and bilingual layouts were reinterpreted through wood, metal, and distressed finishes, creating a signage language with a sense of time and familiarity. While ensuring clear orientation, the system introduces recognizable urban memories into the space. Depending on spatial conditions, signage appears as suspended, wall-mounted, or double-sided elements, seamlessly integrated with architecture and circulation.
Graphic and surface design play an equally important role. Layered wall graphics and textures create depth and warmth within the industrial setting, while carpet patterns use subtle rhythms and low-saturation colors to act as an understated guide for spatial order.
Rooted in Mercedes-Benz’s principle “The Best or Nothing,” every sign, wall surface, and carpet responds precisely to both function and experience, reflecting the brand’s commitment to quality, focus, and long-term value.
