This small summer house, just a glimpse from Mallorca’s coastline near Cala Mondragó, was developed on the basis of a pre-existing structure that was only half its current size. Abandoned, unattractive, and seemingly destined to be replaced, the building nevertheless had to be retained due to local regulations, which required us to design within the existing framework.
Our aim was to create a striking piece of architecture despite its relatively modest scale. We therefore reduced the design to a pure white, three-dimensional sculpture with only a few carefully positioned openings—free from unnecessary detailing, reduced to its essence, and bold in its presence.
Although the house is composed of both the original structure and a new extension, this distinction becomes imperceptible in the final design. The existing portion now accommodates two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and a storage room below. The new adjoining structure houses the public living areas on groundfloor and basement while an additional upper floor contains the master suite. A spacious roof terrace further enhances the property’s summer use, providing generous outdoor living space and sweeping views of the sea.
